Melting behavior of sulfur-bearing silicate–phosphate glass batches

چکیده

Abstract The main purpose of the research was to explain differences between nominal and actual chemical compositions silicate-phosphate glasses in SiO 2 -P O 5 -K O-MgO-SO 3 system. materials were determined with X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyses. Changes composition explained by examining melting processes for selected glass batches differential scanning calorimetry-thermogravimetry-related gas analysis mass spectrometry (DSC-TG-EGA (MS)) high-temperature diffraction (HT-XRD). It found that changes sulfur-bearing associated release gaseous products. gases released during thermal decomposition batch water vapor, carbon dioxide, monoxide, ammonia. Since these have potential use as glassy fertilizers, there is no doubt present study important from an environmental point view.

The industrial glass melting process

The glass melting process starts from a granular mixture of natural and synthetic raw materials (the so-called batch) and yields a thermally and chemically homogeneous melt made available at a well defined temperature level. The consecutive steps of glass fabrication (forming, annealing, etc.) are not within the scope of interest of this paper. Figure 1 illustrates how a continuously working gl...

Chalcophile behavior of thallium during MORB melting and implications for the sulfur content of the mantle

We present new laser ablation ICP-MS trace element concentration data for 28 elements in 97 mid-ocean ridge basalt (MORB) glasses that cover all major spreading centers as well as Tl concentration data for all mineral phases in five lherzolites from the Lherz massif, France. The ratio between the elements thallium (Tl) and cerium (Ce) is nearly constant in MORB, providing evidence that the depl...

Modelling of glass melting industrial process

The present paper emphasizes the potentialities of the industrial use of three-dimensional mathematical modelling of glass melting tanks for optimization of working conditions, design and control of indusaial furnaces. A short review of related recent relevant works is presented and industrial needs and requirements in modelling are discussed. A modelling procedure to solve the heat and mass tr...

Shear melting of a colloidal glass.

We use confocal microscopy to explore shear melting of colloidal glasses, which occurs at strains of approximately 0.08, coinciding with a strongly non-Gaussian step size distribution. For larger strains, the particle mean square displacement increases linearly with strain and the step size distribution becomes Gaussian. The effective diffusion coefficient varies approximately linearly with she...

Stationary behavior of controlled generalized batches Petri nets

In this paper we consider controlled Generalised Batches Petri Nets, a class of batches nets where the firing flow of continuous and batch transitions and the transfer speed of batch places are control variables to be selected within an admissible range. We show that the steady state behavior of this class of nets during a period in which no discrete transition fires can be characterized by sol...
